Privacy policy
This policy describes how tabemate (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you visit https://tabemate.com and related marketing pages (the “Site”). It does not govern the tabemate application at https://app.tabemate.com; account and health-related data in the app are covered by a separate policy.
Who we are
tabemate provides food-tracking software. For privacy questions about the Site, contact us at hello@tabemate.com.
Information we collect
We collect only a limited amount of information through the Site:
- Technical and usage data. Like most websites, our hosting and infrastructure may automatically record information such as your IP address, browser type, referring URL, pages viewed, and approximate access time. We use this data to operate, secure, and improve the Site.
- Information you send us. If you email us (for example at hello@tabemate.com), we receive whatever you choose to include in your message (such as your email address and the content of your inquiry).
- On-page search preview. The food-search demo on the homepage sends your search text to our application at https://app.tabemate.com to fetch USDA nutrition previews. This does not create an account, log food to a diary, or store your searches beyond what is needed to answer the request. Query parsing also runs in your browser.
We do not operate user accounts on the Site, and we do not ask you to submit payment or health information here. Sign-up and sign-in happen on our application at https://app.tabemate.com.
How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- provide and maintain the Site;
- understand how visitors use the Site (for example, which pages are popular);
- detect, prevent, and address abuse or technical problems;
- respond to your requests and communicate with you; and
- comply with applicable law.
We do not sell your personal information.
Legal bases (EEA, UK, and similar regions)
Where privacy law requires a legal basis, we rely on: (a) our legitimate interests in operating and securing the Site; (b) performance of steps you request (for example, following a link to the app); and (c) your consent where required (for example, for non-essential cookies if we use them in the future).
Sharing and service providers
We may share information with vendors that help us run the Site (such as static hosting, content delivery, and email delivery). They process data on our instructions and only as needed to provide their services. We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (with notice where appropriate).
Cookies and similar technologies
The Site is built to work without tracking cookies for advertising. Our hosting provider or future analytics tools may set strictly necessary or optional cookies. If we add optional analytics or marketing tags, we will update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent before they run.
Links and third parties
The Site links to our application and may link to third-party sites (for example, app stores or documentation). Those services have their own privacy practices; we are not responsible for them.
App and account data
When you create an account or log meals in the tabemate app, different data is collected and stored to provide the service (for example, account credentials, diary entries, and preferences). That processing is described in the app’s privacy policy. If you have questions about app data, contact us at hello@tabemate.com.
Retention
We keep server logs and correspondence only as long as needed for the purposes above, unless a longer period is required by law. You may ask us to delete emails you sent us, subject to legal or operational needs to retain certain records.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to a static marketing site. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict use of your personal information, to object to certain processing, to withdraw consent, or to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. To exercise these rights, email hello@tabemate.com. We may need to verify your request.
California residents. We do not sell personal information. You may request access to or deletion of personal information we hold about you in connection with the Site, and you will not receive discriminatory treatment for exercising privacy rights, as required by applicable law.
Children
The Site is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the Site.
International transfers
We may process information in the United States and other countries where we or our providers operate. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Material changes may be highlighted on the Site or communicated by other reasonable means.
